Party Planning Commitee

Katie, I worry about your survival now. Check in every once in awhile so that I can verify your existence. I have big news to announce. I'm throwing the first party in our apartment. It will be held Sept. 5th (labor day weekend). It's my welcome back from China party. If any of you guys happen to be around everyone is welcome. Details to follow.

Love,
Margaret

Yikes!

Goodness, I'm a blogging failure. How are you guys? I miss you so much! We just ended Mardi Gras here, and I'm glad the commotion, crowds, and mess is over for another year.

The celebrations were largely safe and wholesome until today. We were sitting on my back porch for lunch and heard something that sounded like violent and horribly loud firecrackers. Someone just was shot, I said, voicing my mistrust of this dangerous city. Not someone, but SEVEN were shot at random just down the street on the St. Charles parade route. Horrifying. Luckily the injuries weren't too great and the NOPD caught the gunmen.
Of course, that doesn't make it better, but it makes it less painful for the city in general I suppose. The desensitization, however, has become so great that not moments after the shots were fired and the EMTs were loading bloodied victims into the ambulances, parade goers were back to watching the festivities and screaming for "throws" from the masked riders. What a place.

I included a photo of my dog and his feeling about Mardi Gras in general. He's quite expressive.

How are you guys doing?!? Will you be in Elmhurst for Easter? More to come soon....

Remember when I had this blog with my friends and we could update each other on our lives? Yeah...that was a good time. What happened to my friends?
